General description of the collection: The Joseph Schubert papers include photocopies of a memoir by Schubert recounting his capture by John S. Mosby in 1863; his imprisonment at Libby, Belle Isle, Savannah, Millin, and especially Andersonville; his parole in 1864; and his assignment to Camp Parole. This reminiscence vividly recounts the horror of prison life. Also included are two clippings on the Andersonville site at the end of the century, plus one clipping on the death of Schubert's former colonel, Henry Sawyer.
